The High Intensity and Energy (HIE)-ISOLDE project involves building a new LINAC and two new service buildings, to run the future accelerator. This upgrade will bring new technologies and new features to ISOLDE that requires new safety developments.
The technical safety soluIons idenIfied for the project were discussed amongst the different work packages concerned and CERN HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental protecIon unit). Different risk analysis and models were used to validate the safety approach such as:
Ø FLUKA simulaIon to validate the LINAC shielding (Acknowledgement S.Giron DGS/RP)
Ø CFD ComputaIonal Fluid Dynamics to idenIfy ODH and cold burn hazards inside LINAC
(Acknowledgement E.Da Riva EN/CV)
Ø IMMI - The Noise Mapping SoXware to assess noise impact of the project
The presentaIon will describe a brief descripIon of these hazards (cryogenic, noise, pressure equipment...), the methodology and the selected technical soluIons.
