This brief document presents the main characteristics and position of the focusing quadrupoles used at the MEBTs of various accelerators. The main problem in this section of the LINACs is keeping the emittance growth as low as possible in a high space charge environment due to the low energy of the particles (2.5 to 3 MeV). That is why regularly spaced, strong focusing quadrupoles are required for all the MEBTs. However, the length restriction for the MEBTs (to further avoid the emittance growth) renders the quadrupoles very challenging devices, mainly dominated by 3D fringe fields and iron saturation effects. In addition, the short distance between the adjacent quadrupoles (in the same order of magnitude as their aperture) requires a study of the cross-talk between the integrated magnetic fields, further increasing the complexity of these devices.
